Many of us have the theory that cannabis is (and has been and will be) a highly potent and empowering ally for women. Especially in these times of conquest of rights in which we started to fight to break with imposed and established, in which we achieve the real equality which we should already have achieved. One of the many aspects which still remain taboo is sexuality. Today we learn about the US initiative “Quim Rock”, lubricants made with cannabis.
“Apart from the incredible community of women who have united around the cannabis industry, what is really great is that women and the elderly are the fastest growing groups of cannabis consumers, opening the doors to people who historically have kept away from cannabis” Rachel Washtien, co-founder of Quim Rock tells us. “With greater conversation and consciousness, i believe that women will be more open to trying cannabis, and discovering which is the best use for them and empowering themselves to try the amazing health benefits of the plant” she confesses
Rachel Washtien and Cyo Nystrom are the founders of the ‘Quim Rock’ brand, a lubricant made with high doses of THC and essential oils like tea tree oil. With this composition, as well as achieving maximum pleasure for women, its creators want to go further and improve our sex lives as well. Are there other lubricants on the market made with cannabis? Sure. But not many without parabens or chemicals, made in a totally natural way. And this is the key the two empresarios from San Francisco are counting on.
Many people have experienced the way that our achilles heel can be transformed into an opportunity to listen to our bodies and become a point of strength. The Psicowoman, Youtuber and sexologist, often says how in her adolescence she had hundreds of problems with her vagina and now she dedicates herself to helping other people to listen to themselves and get to know themselves better through her workshops on “self knowledge”
Quim Rock also started from a story of two women and their vaginas. Rachel Washtien and Cyo Nystrom spent years dealing with constant vaginal health issues (infection of the vagina, low self-drive) complications with sexual enjoyment (difficulty in achieving orgasm) and allergic reactions to other commercial products. From their personal experience they decided to create a space to destigmatize conversations about vaginal health and about the pleasure that cannabis use can give
“I felt like my vagina had no rules”. “This is pure magic in a bottle”. Theses are some of the testimonies that Rachel and Cyo have received. “ We have so many people writing to us to tell us that our product has changed their lives…. Our lubricant makes them feel more relaxed and at ease with their bodies than ever. This shows that we are doing this for a reason and it motivates us to continue creating products and generating conversations with our users” Rachel Washtien tells us.
When you want to help more people, the lessons from your personal history are key and these two entrepreneurs created a product that worked for them. After discovering the aphrodisiac benefits of cannabis and seeing the need to incorporate them into the sexual health of women, Quim Rock was born. ‘Pleasure. Intimacy. Conversation’ is their slogan. Happier vaginas and better sex. Their mission? They tell us on their website “to create products that increase pleasure, encourage sustainable methods of personal care and combine the ancient afrodisiac power of cannabis with a touch of Tea Tree oil to create a balanced formula that is both sensual and therapeutic.
They admit that they are not reinventing the wheel, because women have taught each other how to look after their bodies for thousands of years. “But at this moment in history when women´s health is on the line, we want to create a space to destigmatize conversations about vaginal health, and break taboos around sexual pleasure of women and the consumption of cannabis. We want to deepen the connection that you have with your own body and to empower you to care for it in a way that makes sense to you”. Let us keep creating more spaces to care for ourselves and continue breaking taboos and imposed conventions!
