Kannabia Team
Kannabia Seed Company turns 10! Carlos Gardel said that 20 years is nothing and for us this tenth anniversary has flown by. It must be because we never stopped moving forward and so wonderful things happened. We began working towards a dream and we have seen over the course of this time how our favourite plant has begun to gain a foothold in the therapeutic and recreational markets. We spoke to Zoe, manager at Kannabia Seed Company.
Zoe Kannabia Seed Company & Positronics
Laura Rueda: Do you remember when you started 10 years ago, what your goals were in opening Kannabia?
Zoe: Yes, of course, we started with little more than a table and a computer, wonderful genetics and a partner … We really wanted to do something new, quality and aimed at real people, without any greater intention than living from this and for this.
Laura Rueda: 10 years later, what is your assessment of these 10 years?
Zoe: Well, we have achieved many things. We have generated serious jobs. We have also helped, giving important information to many people who demanded it and were lost. We have established highly important professional agreements with state institutions. We have given women the place they deserve in this industry. And much more! The outcome has been very positive!

Laura Rueda: You are present at all the world cannabis events and your seeds reach all continents, what is your assessment of the state of the plant in the world?
Zoe: The plant is beginning to make its mark, highly deserved after the false and negative political publicity it has had, in the most important therapeutic and recreational markets in the world. And we are leading it by the hand. Although Europe is moving cautiously, society has begun to destigmatize the cannabis sativa plant and to use it as it should, and how people hope, it will be used, with professionals who support it and use it as it should be used case by case. The state of the plant in Spain is slow, sometimes it takes a step backwards, sometimes one forward, but it will come to find its place and its prestige due to the need of the people, of the patients, because they are the ones who possess to power to change everything. We only accompany them.

Laura Rueda: What are your next goals as a seed bank?
Zoe: Our goal is to move forward, continue creating jobs, giving as much information as possible to those who need it and creating serious studies to protect this plant that still has so much to contribute.

Laura Rueda: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Zoe: With projects in conjunction with universities, patients and the State. And together, with the same team as today, and with all the good that is yet to come.

We couldn’t agree more with these wishes of Zoe. We hope that in a very short time we can walk hand in hand with society, institutions, hospitals, government, and universities because this will mean that the taboo and the stigma have ended and that we are working on laws and treatments that allow us to fully enjoy all the properties that cannabis has to offer us.
Congratulations, Kannabia team! Here’s to the next ten years!
